Personally, I think this is an instant world. From instant coffee to quickie divorces. People have lost their patience. They want that big house now when they are just starting their working life, that led to the bubble that burst in real estate.
It is a world of one marshmallow kids. That, of course, relates to the experiment they did with kids when they sat them down with a marshmallow in front of them. They were told they could eat it or wait a bit and get two. Most kids ate it. Studies have shown that those who waited were more successful later in life.
Heck, in these internet days if a marriage is not working they can go online and find another wife or husband in no time.
When I grew up long ago, no one got divorced. Every family in my neighborhood was a two parent traditional family. I am not sure if it is better or worse now. Women were more dependent in those days and were afraid to leave. They put up with more abuse and more bad marriages, but everyone stayed married.
